The Homestead Chicken and Duck Feeder

For years I have struggled with fowl feeders.  I’ve built them, bought them, broke them, and hated them.  For the last few years, I have just been feeding the birds the old fashioned way, by throwing food at them.  Well, no longer.  I have found a DIY Chicken Feeder that costs very little to build, takes about 20 minutes and simple tools, and has incredible function.  It keeps 150lbs of feed dry, rodent free, and waste free, all while being available to the birds at all times.  I’m so stoked.  Check this out….

All you need is a Garbage Can, 4 4″ elbows for ducks, or 3″ elbows for chickens, and some scissors or a knife. Cut holes the same diameter as the elbows evenly spaced around the bottom of the can. Position them so that if the elbows are inverted they are a couple inches off of the bottom. Cut a few more slits in rays from your holes, about half an inch long, to allow you to fit the elbows through. Push the elbows in and fit them as you see in the video, turned down. If you are going to keep it outdoors, you can put a bead of silicone window sealant around the elbows on the outside. That’s it! Fill it up and leave it alone for a while. Hope this helps. We got this!
